New York City, United States - Last week, Three Mast Group’s Ryan McHenry led a commercial mission to New York City with executives from Greater Dublin's Sandyford Business District and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (DLR) County Council, encouraging U.S.-based investors to invest in Irish companies and to also use Ireland as a gateway to the broader European market.
The mission was designed as an independent, yet complementary initiative to the Irish government’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day diplomacy, during which senior ministers travel to key global cities like New York in a bid to strengthen ties with foreign governments and the Irish diaspora.

Building on the Irish government's long-established Saint Patrick's Day diplomatic initiatives, Three Mast Group helped the delegation from Sandyford and DLR to introduce a parallel, bottom-up commercial layer focused on investment, innovation, and long-term economic collaboration from a local perspective.
The concept for this dual diplomatic-commercial trip to NYC emerged at a November 2025 event in which Three Mast Group and Sandyford executives presented a three-pillared strategy to turn the business district into a global innovation hub, with activities centered on:
Developing a dedicated physical innovation campus,
Deepening engagement with domestic and international investors, and
Strengthening community-driven programming.
The trip ultimately proved successful. The delegation met with a range of investors that included accelerators, venture capital firms, and family offices, building upon discussions that had already kicked off weeks prior. Thanks to the in-person meetings, several investors have decided to advance their plans to invest in Irish innovation: from early-stage digital companies to big pharma.
Additional meetings were held with key Irish actors, including the investment promotion agency IDA and export promotion agency Enterprise Ireland. Additionally, the delegation visited New York City's Economic Development Corporation, which is the largest landlord in the city and uses its extensive real estate inventory to promote innovative businesses while pursuing strategic economic objectives.
The delegation also participated in NYC's Saint Patrick's Day festivities, including attending mass at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, marching down 5th Avenue, and attending City Hall's reception.
